Australian State of the Environment Report 2016

This is a case study about bringing a 1200+ page printed report kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.

The Australian State of the Environment report has been converted to an online, interactive site migrating the previous 2011 report and adding the 2016 report allowing for comparison of change over time.  The new site enables content to be browsed, filtered, aggregated and interrogated by users in a variety of ways.

Three different government open data, open source, platforms were brought together to deliver data and content.

Panel: Collaboration in government, introduced by Sharyn Clarkson

Digital eDeposit using Drupal at the National Library of Australia

Publishers are now able to deposit publications with the National Library of Australia electronically, a process known as eDeposit. Publications are accepted in multiple electronic formats (such as PDF) and automatically registered with the Library's data management systems. The front end and management of submissions is powered by Drupal.

This session will discuss the overall business requirements for the project, a deep dive into the technical architecture, and a summary of some of the learnings for using Drupal as an application front-end with complex business logic.

Building a Drupal distribution for a group of government depts in New Zealand

After an 18 month long RFP process, New Zealand’s Central Agencies Shared Services (CASS) tasked Sparks interactive to build a CMS Platform and distribution.

This platform supports 13 websites under the head of the three Central Agencies – the State Services Commission, the Treasury, and Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. In this presentation, we share our experiences gained from building a Drupal distribution to cater for over 150 quite specific requirements, and how we support the site owners to move onto the new platform.

Revolutionising the Government Intranet with Drupal

The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP) intranet (e-Hub) has been developed in Drupal as a fully functional digital platform to be the single source of information for all personnel within CDPP. The new e-Hub was designed to not only be more visually appealing but also improve accessibility and usability across all devices to inspire all CDPP staff to communicate on the platform.

ACIAR: Case Study – UX for GovCMS

The Australian Centre for International Agriculture Research are seeking to transform their web and wanted to deliver a seamless User Experience utilising best practice approaches from the Digital Service Standard and GovCMS.

A critical output of this phase was an Alpha site the client could use to help sell back into their agency and stakeholder base, which in this case was a fully functioning high fidelity prototype. Learn more about how the prototype was tested with users and the efficiencies that were created which would significantly streamline the build phase in GovCMS.
